Celtic defend their 56th league title under Martin O’Neill, manager since 5 January 2026, with Callum McGregor as captain and Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty, Benjamin Nygren and Viljami Sinisalo among the key names. The summer brought Camilo Durán from Qarabağ, Kasper Høgh from Bodø/Glimt, Jordan Lotomba from Feyenoord and Joël van den Berg from PSV Eindhoven, plus Sam Johnstone on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers; Kasper Schmeichel retired, and Daizen Maeda, Arne Engels and Reo Hatate left for English clubs. After losing the Champions League play-off to LASK, Celtic Park hosts Europa League nights instead: Celtic v Beşiktaş (5 November); Celtic v Marseille (21 January). Celtic led the Premiership after seven games, but Rangers have already beaten them twice, including 1-0 at Parkhead on 20 September. The next home game is Celtic v Dundee United, Wednesday 28 October 2026.
