Rangers start a new chapter under Derek McInnes, appointed on 17 June 2026 from Heart of Midlothian after Danny Röhl left for Red Bull Salzburg. Lawrence Shankland, a free signing from Hearts, is captain, and the summer spending brought Kevin Kelsy from Portland Timbers (£9m), Kim Min-su from Girona (£8.5m), Ivor Pandur from Hull City (£6m) and Dan Neil from Sunderland. James Tavernier, Jack Butland and Mohamed Diomande have gone. European football ended in qualifying, against Jagiellonia Białystok and then Jablonec on penalties, so Ibrox is a league-and-cup ground this season. The domestic start is strong: second after seven games with 16 points, both Old Firm meetings won and a League Cup semi-final against Aberdeen at Hampden Park. The next home game is Rangers v St Johnstone, Saturday 24 October 2026.
